Our Story

Two kids from the valley, one red box, and a plan to raise a family at home.

In 2011 Josh and Lindsey Johnson started Absolute Comfort Technology because they both wanted a business of their own and they wanted to raise their children in the valley they grew up in. Longtime Selah residents, they have two kids, and the company has grown up alongside them.

Today the crew is 20+ people strong, working from one shop on West Mead Avenue. Here is how it got there.

The journeyman years

Perry Tech in Yakima, then the biggest buildings in Western Washington.

After graduating from Perry Technical Institute in Yakima with a degree in HVAC, Josh spent the early years of his journeyman career in Western Washington. He worked on large scale systems on the Microsoft campus, in downtown Seattle high-rises, and in banks and retail spaces.

That work put him in front of a wide range of equipment, from rooftop plants that take a crane to set, to the split systems that keep a small shop comfortable. It is the reason ACT can put the same care into a downtown rooftop lift and a Selah attic.

Systems Josh worked on

  • Chillers
  • Building automation
  • Split systems
  • Packaged units
  • Geothermal and hydronic systems

Those years are why the commercial side of ACT is not an afterthought. See the rooftop work on our projects page.

2011

Home was always the point.

Josh and Lindsey did not start ACT to chase the biggest job in the state. They started it so they could build something of their own and raise their kids where they themselves grew up. Josh brought the trade. Lindsey has been part of ACT since the beginning, running accounting and controls.

From there the company built a strong crew of 20+ people with the integrity to give customers excellent service and reliable performance. ACT also makes it a priority to give that crew a positive place to work, where they can grow and serve their families and their community.

If that sounds like a place you would like to work, see our open technician role.
